Maybe it’s because the temperature here today is a refreshing 86 degrees, maybe it’s because I have felt my baby jar collection staring at me from the top of the fridge for too long, or maybe it’s because I’ve had a holiday crafts mag in my bathroom for the past few weeks (which I had to buy after reading that one of my favorite crafters contributed to it).
Whatever the reason, I was inspired to make this little guy.

I found myself humming carols as I searched my supplies for all the little bits that make him whole. Baby food jars in stages 1 and 2. Cotton balls for his innards. Scrap felt for the scarf, nose and mouth. Buttons for the, ahem, buttons, and eyes. And his little top hat is something that I dug out of the black hole of our kitchen, more commonly known as the junk drawer. I knew it would have stayed there forever so I had no qualms over using it for Mr. Snowman.
I originally thought I would save it as a craft to do with Annabelle, but goshdarnit, the girl doesn’t know what snow is, let alone a snow-man. So I’ll hold off on the snowman crafts with her until the seasons start changing a little more noticeably and I can get a hold of some snowman books.
Speaking of snowman books, anyone have a recommendation?
P.S. After looking at the picture while finishing off this post, I realize I should have put little snowflakes on his scarf rather than the word “snow.” So please, would you be so kind as to imagine him with the snowflake scarf instead? Thanks…I feel better about posting this now!
This is completely adorable! I love how the scarf looks with the snowflakes, so inspired!
He is so cute. Too bad I don’t have baby food jars in my house anymore.
Snowmen at Night is a classic. We also like Snowball Fight (but it doesn’t have snowmen).
That’s adorable - love it!! Hmmm…snowman books - I’m thinking….
“Snowmen at Night” is a really fun snowman book. Cute project!
YOU NEVER EVER cease to amaze me. That is awesome Chrissy. I LOVE snowmen so I totally dig this guy.
I was going to suggest Snowmen at Night too. There’s also a Christmas version.
Very cute project!
Super cute. But, I’m not going towards winter/Christmas yet. Not gonna do it. N’uh uh.
Now, how cute is that? What isn’t to love about that cute little snowman?
That is so cute. I bet you could do that with juice bottles too and fill them with snacks! We of course have a ton of baby food jars right now but for the older kids this could be a safer project with plastic.. But I love it.. I am going to add it to my blog if you don’t mind..
This is very cute! It would make a great link for Twice-the-Fun Tuesday at havingfunathomeblog.blogspot.com if you’d like to add it there some Tuesday!
